Inside the Nintendo Direct a couple of days ago, Kirby and the Forgotten Land fans also saw the Mouthful Mode reveal start with Kirby essentially inhaling an old, rusted car, which let it drive around the level. Naturally, the unique looking Car Kirby became an instant hit across the Internet. Lovingly dubbed “Carby” by fans, the absurdity of Kirby being able to inhale a car to drive it generated plenty of memes online.

YouTuber RiazorMC has already found a way to mod the Kirby car into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, complete with the car racing on courses. While it appears to only be used in Time Trials, it’s cool to see someone already putting the Kirby car into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The impressive mod could likely fool someone who was unfamiliar with Kirby and the Forgotten Land or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, convincing them it is an actual kart from the game.

While a DLC pack was announced for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe during the Nintendo Direct, fans were speculating an announcement of Mario Kart 9, as rumors about the game have been swirling for about a couple of months. There are some rumors that say other Nintendo characters could appear in Mario Kart 9, similar to how Super Smash Bros. brings in characters from all over Nintendo’s titles.

Perhaps to mess with viewers, RiazorMC even named their Kirby car video ‘Mario Kart 9’ though it could also be wishful thinking that the Kirby car could be an easy inclusion into a future Mario Kart title. Either way, it appears that Mario Kart 9 is at least a couple of years away, since the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC that was announced a couple of days ago during the Nintendo Direct will continue releasing content until the end of 2023.

Until gamers see Mario Kart 9, they can continue to hypothesize on what other Nintendo characters could make an appearance or not. Until then, players can enjoy Kirby in car form in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is releasing on March 25, 2022 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
