Vella made the announcement on Twitter, confirming that they left Capyapara games six months ago. They’d spent 15 years running their home-grown studio at Capybara, so it’s a bit odd to consider a Capy without him. During their Capy years, the studio made titles including Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Super Time Force, Below, and most recently Grindstone for Apple Arcade.

At Annapurna Interactive, Vella says that he will be helping “some of my fav studios (and good friends) make amazing things & get them  in front of people everywhere.” Annapurna is currently working to bring a significant number of indie projects to market. Announced titles include 12 Minutes, Due Process, Solar Ash Kingdom, and more.

Capybara, by all accounts, continues to move forward. It recently released the Explore Mode for Below and a big update for Grindstone. Whatever Capybara works on next is certain to be just as charming and epic as any of its past games. And knowing Vella, Annapurna’s future published games and the developers behind them will be very well taken care of.
