Captain Toad was one adorable character from Super Mario 3D World who was lucky enough to get his own standalone game, and now that Wii U release is headed to the Nintendo Switch family.

Of course, this won’t be just a basic port, but will include new levels based on the ever-popular Super Mario Odyssey. It’s unclear how many new levels will be released, but New Donk City was featured during the reveal trailer.

Another new feature that will be available on the Nintendo Switch is a two-player mode. Nintendo described the two-player experience similar to that of Super Mario Odyssey, where “one player controls Captain Toad and the other [player] can assist with things like turnip cover fire.”

Although the focus was on the Switch version, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will also be coming to the 3DS with new features including touchscreen controls and stereoscopic 3D visuals. No price has been announced for either version but the original Treasure Tracker for the Wii U retailed for $40 USD, so players can hope it’ll be around the same price, if not less.

Nintendo Direct seems to have proven to be what all Nintendo fans have been waiting for, especially considering the announcement of the latest installment in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Fans seem to be really excited about this announcement since it was something they have wanted since the release of the Nintendo Switch in 2017.

As Nintendo releases more and more games, fans and players alike can rest easy knowing Nintendo has their best interests at heart, especially with the many fan-requested games announcing today. It seems as if player’s hopes are coming true with Nintendo Direct’s announcements and all the games revealed cannot release soon enough.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will release on July 13th, 2018 on the Nintendo Switch and the 3DS.
